Vintage Tribal Folk Art Dolls: Signed by Artist (1982)

This is a pair of folk art dolls, likely representations of an African or Oceanic culture, given their construction and adornments. Both dolls are signed on the feet, "Kathie Owens 82" and are in great condition for 23 years old. 

The dolls are crafted from natural materials, coarse woven cloth wrapped around a core, and then adorned with elements such as shells, feathers, and raffia or straw for hair and arm accents. Turtle shells decorate the lower abdominal area of both dolls, symbolically relating to fertility or life-giving aspects.
