This is a beautiful PAIR of vintage (c. 1940s-1950s) silver alloy Nepalese standing Maitreya Statue. The pieces are in excellent condition with a rich patina.
Maitreya Buddha is a bodhisattva, or enlightened being, regarded as the future Buddha in many Mahayana Buddhist traditions. According to Buddhist belief, Maitreya will appear on earth to end suffering and spread Buddhist teachings.
