This is an antique Egyptian terracotta statue depicting the god Amun Ra as a ram. The pharaoh, King Taharqa, is under Amun Ra's protection, as he stands nestled between the ram's front legs. There were many large statues of this same imagery throughout Egypt during this time, and this artifact was most likely a personal piece created for the home.

King Taharqa was a pharaoh of the Twenty-fifth Dynasty of Egypt as well as Gore of the Kingdom of Kush (c. 690-664 B.C.). Taharqa was one of the "Kushite Pharaohs" who ruled over Egypt for nearly a century.

This piece was made by local Egyptians for affluent visitors who traveled to Egypt on educational "Grand Tours" of various archaeologically significant sites between 1780-1920s; a time also known as the "Egyptian Revival Period."

This Egyptian ring is attested to as authentic and to have been made in Egypt during the “Grand Tour/Egyptian Revival” era by Mr Matthew Wicks of Ancient Hands, Ltd, and is accompanied by a digitally signed PDF copy of its "Provenance & Ownership" documentation.
