This ornately cast bronze sculpture is unsigned, but presumed to have been sculptued in Italy (c. 1800-1920) in the Classical Roman style. The artwork depicts the famous Classical Roman sculpture known as The Dying Gaul (The Dying Gladiator) and is considered to have been a souvenir of the "Grand Tour" dating to the turn of the century.
The original sculptor's identity is unknown, but it's been suggested it may have been Epigonus, a court sculptor of the Attalid Dynasty of Pergamon (230-220 B.C.)
