This beautiful Ancient Egyptian faience-blue funerary trinket box is in superb condition for its age, with only minor chipping along the edges of the piece. The box would have been used either as a repository of treasured items meant to accompany a loved one in death, or to store items from a passed loved one in the home of the living as a remembrance.
This piece was made by local Egyptians for affluent visitors who traveled to Egypt on educational "Grand Tours" of various archaeologically significant sites between 1780-1920s; a time also known as the "Egyptian Revival Period."
This Egyptian box is attested to as authentic and to have been made in Egypt during the “Grand Tour/Egyptian Revival” era by Mr Matthew Wicks of Ancient Hands, Ltd, and is accompanied by a digitally signed PDF copy of its "Provenance & Ownership" documentation.
