This Egyptian funerary Shabti is formed in the likeness of the God Ptah, and fashioned from a creamy-blue composite material called "Faience" (invented by the ancient Egyptians). These were made for affluent visitors who traveled to Egypt on educational "Grand Tours" of various archaeologically significant sites in and around Europe between 1780-1920s; a time also known as the "Egyptian Revival Period."

This hand-carved Ptah Shabti is 3" tall and 1" wide, and in excellent antique condition.

Ptah was the ancient Egyptian God and crafters. In fact, Ptah was considered the creator of the universe. Ptah existed before anything else did, and conceived of the universe through the power of thought. He then brought it into existence with his words, forming and ordering things by naming them.

This Egyptian Shabti is attested to as authentic and to have been made in Egypt during the “Grand Tour/Egyptian Revival” era by Mr Matthew Wicks of Ancient Hands, Ltd, and is accompanied by a digitally signed PDF copy of its "Provenance & Ownership" document.
