Antique Cloisonné Ashtray | Made in China (c. 1890-1910)

This is a delicate little cloisonné ashtray with a yellow-based enamel multi-flower design with a unique circular pattern background. The ashtray is in excellent antique condition with no noticeable surface wear, and can be used as a functional ashtray or a stunning Asian decor piece.

Making these ashtrays was a very labor-intensive process, as every piece is a unique miniature work of art. Pieces fall into categories by background color or theme. Most cloisonné ashtrays are brightly colored with floral themes. Craftsmanship varies widely, from large crude cloisonnés to extremely small finely detailed cloisonnés.

The design, size, and techniques used date the ashtray to be made c. 1890-1910.
