Traveling Man Treasures is selling this stunning matching pair of mixed-metal Japanese art deco vases. The vases are in good-to-fair condition for their age, and some cleaning would be appropriate.

Decorated in the Egyptian revival style, very unusual for Japanese pieces,
these are beautiful and very finely decorated. The engraving is superb, and the quality of workmanship is top notch.

The Damascene technique is a craft where intricate designs are created by inlaying gold and silver into a darkened steel or iron background. The process involves engraving a pattern onto the metal, hammering thin gold or silver foil into the grooves, and then oxidizing the steel to create a black finish that makes the precious metal design stand out.
