This is a beautiful cast-brass statue of the Roman God Mercury. He is captured in dynamic motion, holding a scroll and a writing instrument as if preparing to deliver a message. His takeoff point is the head of a cherub representing the winds and symbolizing his speed.
Made during the end of the "Grand Tour Era" (17th-19th century), this sculpture most likely was cast in the early 1900s and is in good condition for its age and will make a fine sculpture to add to any neoclassical collection.
